Would play agri stocks through FMCG route right now: Sonam Udasi

If monsoons are good and there is a second half election spending, then some of the FMCG names may bounce back with some volume growth.

In a chat with ET Now, Sonam Udasi, Head of Research, IDBI Capital shares his views on agriculture sector.

ET Now: The whole agri theme was in focus during the month of June in anticipation of a good monsoon. What would be your view on that sector?

Sonam Udasi: We are long-term positive on the agriculture input side which includes the fertilisers and the various uptrends on those. We are not at all bullish on Jain Irrigation which does irrigation work simply because the balance sheet is not attractive for us currently. If I have to play agri, then FMCG is a natural corollary for me.

If the monsoon will be good and there will be a second half election spending, then it is quite likely that some of the FMCG names may bounce back with some kind of volume growth. I would try to play it through the FMCG route right now.
