Positive on LIC and Indiabulls Housing Finance among housing NBFCs: P Phani Sekhar

In a chat with ET Now, P Phani Sekhar, Fund Manager-PMS, Angel Broking, shares his views on the financing.

ET Now: Aside of your view on banks, among the financing names, which are the ones that you are interested in right now? I am talking about especially the ones which have specialisations in auto or infra financing?

P Phani Sekhar: Auto and infra financing names are more or less very richly valued. So what comes to your mind, stocks like Sundaram or Shriram Transport which are fairly valued. In the infra financing names, of course, IDFC is something that still holds a lot of promise, notwithstanding the fact that converting into a bank will put some near term pressure on its financials. However, that is a long term positive.

Apart from that, I am still positive on housing NBFC name such as LIC or for that matter in the private sector, Indiabulls Housing Finance. So these are names that are still pretty much attractive for the simple reason that in the case of say an Indiabulls Housing Finance it is high return on equity and the huge potential, it is already no. 3 in that space, will offer quite a bit of leeway in terms of going ahead and tapping that market potential compared to some of its competitors both in the private sector banking space. Also because remember that housing finance can never be the focus area for any large- to mid-sized bank. They have other activities and they have a more holistic view of the economy. So focussed and niche players have their place under the sun and they will continue to prosper.
