Positive on Idea and Bharti Airtel among telecom stocks: Anish Damania, IDFC Securities

In a chat with ET Now, Anish Damania, Head-Institutional Equities, IDFC Securities, shares his ideas on telecom stocks. Excerpt:

ET Now: Does it seem like telecom is a good investment bet?

Anish Damania: We are positive on telecom sector. The consolidation with respect to the tariffs and the growth in mobile data usage are clearly reflecting in the revenue numbers.

The outlay has been more than expectations. However, there has been significant corrections in the stock prices to account for that. So, we still believe that this consolidation in the industry will continue and we are positive on the telecom stocks. So we continue to be buyers of both Bharti and Idea.

ET Now: But if given an option to let’s say pick and choose between Bharti and Idea, which one would you like to buy?

Anish Damania: Given the price corrections, we like Idea a little bit more than Bharti.
