Play metal stocks if you can bet on global growth: Gopinath Natarajan

"We expect prices to be firm at least in the medium to near term both ferrous as well as non-ferrous. It is again a function of quite a few things which is happening globally. "

Gopinath Natarajan, EVP, IIFL PReMIA in an interview with ET Now talks about metal stocks.

Would you stay away from the metals basket purely because the international prices are still somewhat stabilising?

As investors you can play the India consumption story, you have sectors and stocks which benefit out of robust consumption demand and second thing is you have stocks and sectors which benefit out of global cycles, global growth. So metal is one sector which would tend to benefit out of strong global growth.

Prices have been firm till now. We expect prices to be firm at least in the medium to near term both ferrous as well as non-ferrous. It is again a function of quite a few things which is happening globally.

It is a function of what happens in Europe, it is a function of what happens in US so to take a call at this point of time independently would possibly be very difficult but metals as a pack is something which we feel comfortable playing if one wants to take an exposure and bet on global growth.
