Overseas capital flows will keep coming to India: Jyoti Jaipuria

Yes, the overseas flows on a very secular basis will keep coming to India. There will be lot more. Over five years the weight of India in most portfolios will be much higher than what it is today.

ET Now caught up with Jyoti Jaipuria, Head, Research, BAS-ML to know his views on overseas capital flows in India.


Do you think the budget is really being an inflection point in terms of the resumption of some of overseas capital flows?

Yes, the overseas flows on a very secular basis will keep coming to India. There will be lot more. Over five years the weight of India in most portfolios will be much higher than what it is today. In short term, we cannot be immune.

Once we are looking for global flows, you cannot say that even if the globe is falling India will keep going up. So what we are seeing now is this the short term pullback which you are seeing across the world. Equities have had a great run. There is some pullback happening in equities where people are taking a bit of profit and gradually the flows will resume again.

No need to woory about flows being negative for the last four weeks or something.
