Overall picture is not very positive for metals: Satish Betadpur, Independent International Investment Research PLC
Satish Betadpur, CFA, Global Research Director, Independent International Investment Research PLC, in a chat with ET Now talks about the metal space.
Talking about the metals space, selling could be very relentless. You are seeing the entire metal space really succumb under pressure. How do you view it?
There are no catalysts. Metals are obviously tied to the global economic cycle and as we all know, there has been tightening in China and, therefore, the economy there is weakening and Europe has its own problems and so does US. The only bright spot for metals is actually India and being a commodity, India can only do so much.
So the overall picture is not very positive but if it continues to fall, we get a valuation support for these stocks because at the end of the day, metals are in a supercycle. This means that over the long haul, these guys will substantially beat their prior highs and so that will give us a great return.
