Overall IT sector remains compelling: Taher Badshah

In a chat with ET Now, Taher Badshah, Senior Vice President & Co-Head Equities, Motilal Oswal AMC, shares his views on IT sector.

ET Now: What do you do with IT?

Taher Badshah: It has been a sector which is a steady performer throughout. We believe the overall IT opportunity still remains pretty compelling from the point of view of the next few years. The good news is that many of the large technology companies and some of the frontline midsize IT companies also are fairly well geared up to meet the newer technologies and emerging technologies of the future and to that extent. Their ability to get a larger incremental share of the IT services business globally remains fairly strong.

So we believe that the next decade probably the incremental share of Indian IT companies in the global market will be even higher than what it has been in the previous decade or so and from that perspective, we believe conditions overall remain favourable for some of the frontline names particularly as well as for some of the emerging IT in midcap IT companies.

So we remain very constructive on this space. We have an overweight kind of a stance as far as IT sector goes as of now.
