OMC stocks are not very fundamental call: UTI AMC

In general, there is a lot of government regulation involved and government policy involved, it would be a filter for us when we look at stocks.

In a chat with ET Now, Lalit Nambiar, Sr VP & Fund Manager, Head-Research, UTI AMC, shares his views on OMC stocks.

ET Now: Would you look at the oil marketing companies or something in the oil and gas space?

Lalit Nambiar: It is almost like a special situation, you are playing for a bounce, you are playing for a reversal in something and that is not something we really can work on, on a fundamental basis. So, in general, there is a lot of government regulation involved and government policy involved, it would be a filter for us when we look at stocks. While I would not make a sweeping statement to say that anything related to government, we would not touch. But, it definitely is becoming a very important filter today. And oil as of now especially the downstream oil possibly is a bit of an avoid unless you want to be very opportunistic and you are trying to make a fine trade there, not a very fundamental call.
