Not bullish on cement stocks: Sudip Bandyopadhyay

But in the long term, these shares will do well but buying opportunity may be coming at a dip.

In a chat with ET Now, Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Managing Director & CEO, Convexity Solutions, shares his views on the outlook of cement stocks.

We are not disheartened by the kind of numbers that ACC and Ambuja Cement have posted the stock prices are still going up?

Our views on the cement are a bit different. Indian markets are expanding, infrastructure is expanding and cement will be in great demand, but considering the entire demand-supply scenario, we are not very bullish on the cement shares for the short term. There is a significant demand-supply mismatch. The supply is much more than the demand or the foreseeable demand in the near future. So, for some time these companies will not be performing in the market and we will probably be biased at these counters if there is a 5-10% correction. But in the long term, these shares will do well but buying opportunity may be coming at a dip.
