Infra and capital goods stocks will perform well, says Sharmila Joshi

Market is doing a very smart thing by really doing some amount of profit booking, says Sharmila Joshi, Investment Advisor.

The markets trading pretty much flat as we speak, doing a bit of a flip flop as well, some profit booking coming in on metals and auto as expected, where do you see the markets headed from hereon and any particular stocks you are advising your clients to really pull out of at this time?

The kind of movement that we have seen in the market is a little expected when you really see the way we moved or the stand that we moved from that 5180 level that we were finding difficult to cross to above 5300. So market is doing a very smart thing by really doing some amount of profit booking but that being said, it still looks very strong to me and that post 2:30 we will get a better view of what market view is and if you get a close above 5300 then this week is going to end on a very strong note. Next week because of the numbers season hitting us then from thereon, you will have to really take it as it comes in the sense that what really for instance Infosys says about business environment etc. So coming to stocks, possibly infrastructure and capital goods would be the one space that I would look at. The kind of orders that we are seeing whether it is to do with road building or whether it is to do with other infrastructure projects, really the whole span of talks whether we are talking of the large cap players there or the midcap or even some of the smaller players like a Gammon Infra for instance look very attractive to me at these levels.

Anything you are buying in the sugar space, lots of buying happening there on anticipation or speculation really that sugar prices will go up further from here, are you putting your money in those counters?

Yes absolutely, apart from the speculation that you sugar could go to 50, (42:28) that we are going to see that Rs. 35 to Rs. 40 price band maintain for sugar and that in itself will really translate to very good profits for most of the sugar companies. So yes, whether you are talking of sugar, whether you are talking of tea, both would be spaces that I would like to invest in within a three to six months perspective.

And anything you like in the new listings, we have JSW Energy, Godrej Properties as well as DB Corp so far this week, how do you see those fairing going forward?

Honestly Godrej Properties, the kind of listing that it got surprised me but a lot of it also has to do with the fact that they spoken about their development in Vikhroli in a much more positive way than they did at the time of the IPO. So probably that and DB Corp fortunate enough to get a positive rub off of the good action that we saw on Godrej Properties as well as the fact of course that a lot of the media stocks had run up from the time of the DB Corp issue. So possibly out of the three, my money would really be on Godrej Properties more than the other two.
