India should be proud of pharma companies like Dr. Reddy and Lupin: Jagdish Malkani, NSE & BSE

In a chat with ET Now, Jagdish Malkani, Member NSE & BSE, shares his views on pharma space:

ET Now: What is your call on Dr. Reddy and Lupin?

Jagdish Malkani: India should be proud of these companies. We have got 40 per cent of the generic market in the US; in spite of these recent FDA hiccups, we are doing well.

Companies like Lupin and Reddy’s are leading from the front. There is a fear that this FDA action can throw any of these in a tizzy. However, the industry is also learning and they are reaching out.

The FDA chief is expected here and some amount of convincing etc. about Indian standards will help a lot the entire industry.
