In the cement space, UltraTech happens to be the top pick: Prakash Diwan, Altamount Capital Management

'If the deal with those looking at selling out in the consolidation phase goes through, then UltraTech would emerge as the one clear winner.'

In a chat with ET NOW, Prakash Diwan, Director, Altamount Capital Management, gives his outlook on the cement space.

ET NOW: What is your outlook on the cement space? Do you like any names there?

Prakash Diwan: I would play the cement pack only with some of the very large names, for the simple reason that they are the first line beneficiaries of any infrastructural pickup.

Accordingly, UltraTech happens to be the top pick. If the deal with those looking at selling out in the consolidation phase goes through, then UltraTech would emerge as the one clear winner. Ambuja and ACC could also be logically looked at from the valuations' perspective.

However, from the smaller companies, I would only look at an Heidelberg, which will come close to UltraTech in terms of being attractive for different reasons. Heidelberg comes with much lesser leverage.

But, I would not go by the story of smaller ones being great buys at this point in time, because the upside could probably be limited compared to the large caps.
