Idea is in better shape with cleaner balance sheet: Sonam Udasi, IDBI Capital

In a chat with ET Now, Sonam Udasi, Head of Research, IDBI Capital, shares his view on the telecom companies, particularly Idea Cellular, Bharti and Reliance Communications. Excerpts:

ET Now: How you would be looking at Bharti and Idea at this point?

Sonam Udasi: We are far more constructive on Idea rather than Bharti because with Bharti, we are still concerned on the debt that they have on the books. Thus, if one has to be in telecom, then it has to be through Idea.

ET Now: Are you leaving out Reliance Communications?

Sonam Udasi: We are looking at the market shares and the growth that these three companies have. In that case, Idea is scoring very well.

There is talk of some understanding between the two brothers on RComm. However, from a fundamental perspective, I am looking at the brand and the kind of market share that it can generate over the next few years. In that aspect, Idea is in a better shape with far cleaner balance sheet.
