Govt would differ disinvestment of Hindustan Copper: Rajesh Jain
Rajesh Jain, Market Strategist in an interview with ET Now talks about Hindustan Copper.
Hindustan Copper are almost 99% government owned. Does that change in liquidity than increase the prospects for them, obviously they are sitting with huge returns otherwise?
Hindustan Copper is a very unique stock and it would be interesting to see that from a strategic sale point of view, does the Government of India look at it to milk disinvestment proceeds as it did for Hindustan Zinc or they allow it to be a secular listing just as the way you mentioned via an LIC or an SBI achieve the 25% target and then let the business run.
It would be very interesting if Hindustan Copper is allowed to come out as a secularly listed company rather than the government exploring a delisting option because that may not be in the interest of either corporate governance or best performance but to my mind, somewhere the timing could have been better because at a time when metal prices are under pressure, I am sure the government can look at better candidates for disinvestment than Hindustan Copper.
