Go short on Maruti: Dimensions Consulting

I would recommend a short on the stock because it is going to take a long while for things to resolve, the situation on the ground is not good so far to restart of the plant.

In a chat with ET Now, Ajay Srivastava of Dimensions Consulting Pvt Ltd shares his views on Maruti.

ET Now: What does one do with Maruti? Erase the forex volatility which has hit their PAT by good 28%, but then again it is all about what happens with the Manesar plant?

Ajay Srivastava: We are based in Gurgaon. We have a couple of investing companies in Gurgaon. It is pretty grim out there. I am not sure exactly when the start up will happen, what shape it will take and when this will happen. So in a situation like this, you really do not want to buy this stock. In fact, I would recommend a short on the stock because it is going to take a long while for things to resolve, the situation on the ground is not good so far to restart of the plant. A full production and continuing full production for years to come looks very difficult proposition. Things can happen, but look very difficult. So more a short than a long on Maruti at this time.
