Expect positive up move on commodities: Prakash Diwan, Altamount Capital Management

In a chat with ET Now, Prakash Diwan, Director, Altamount Capital Management, shares his views on commodities. Excerpts:

ET Now: What is your view on the commodities trade?

Prakash Diwan: From a longish horizon, commodities offer some sort of a merit and attention. If things are going to start looking up in the US and elsewhere, some sort of positive up move will be expected here as well.

However, there is a lot of baggage when you look at stock specific activity—a lot of leverage to grapple with, a lot of slowdown that they need to get out of.

Hence, I do not think it is going to be a sharp up move; however, you will see consolidation that will start taking things higher.
