Economy to see huge uptick; auto sector to benefit immensely: BP Singh, Pramerica Mutual Fund

In a chat with ET Now, BP Singh, Executive Director & CIO-Equities at Pramerica Mutual Fund, shares his thoughts in the auto space. Excerpts:

ET Now: What has been your reading when it comes to the entire auto pack and the kind of monthly sales data we have seen so far?

BP Singh: I will ignore the last month sales number because it came post festival season. If you look at the the previous year, Diwali was a bit early and therefore, the numbers are not strictly comparable. But if one looks into the economic cycle, we are seeing an economic revival at this point in time and in the two to three quarters down the line, we expect capex to start.

This means that there is going to be a huge uptick in the economy from here onwards and auto is a sector which will benefit immensely.
