Cement stocks are avoidable: Ashwani Gujral

"It is very difficult to profit from cement stocks when they are not trending, when they are very range bound."

Ashwani Gujral, Cheif Market Strategist, ashwanigujral.com in an interview with ET Now talks about cement stocks.

What is the call on cement stocks?

All these are jumping around, if you look at a month to month basis. I do not think they have really moved higher or lower. So, just based on news that Tamil Nadu Chief Minister takes some action, India cement goes down.

When there is price hike news, it goes but clearly they are not trending. It is very difficult to profit from the stocks when they are not trending, when they are very range bound.

Yes, you can get lucky and try to buy lower end of the range, sell higher end of the range. But, generally these are two news driven stocks either they are price hikes or they are price cuts or something happens which take these stocks up for a couple of days and than they peter out, these are avoidable stocks.
