Cement as a sector is unlikely to do well: Hemang Jani, Sharekhan

Hemang Jani, Senior Vice President, Sharekhan, in a chat with ET Now talks about the cement space and Heidelberg Cement.

What is your take on the cement space? Would you recommend a buy on Heidelberg Cement?

Given the fact that cement capacity additions over the last two years have been so much and the pricing pressure is likely to be there - we can see that in many of the markets, particularly in the South India - and the quarterly numbers of most of the companies have not been that impressive, we would not be too positive on the sector.

However, certain companies like Heidelberg, etc, may provide some upside because of their being value picks and may be one of the numbers is good. But overall we think that cement as a sector is unlikely to do well.
