'Buy into media stocks with a long-term perspective'

ET Now caught up with Avinash Gupta, Assistant Vice President Research Equity, Bonanza Portfolio Limited, to get his views on the media pack.

What counters have you added to your portfolio from the media pack? Have you looked at Zee Entertainment, which was buzzing last week and is in the news for a planned acquisition of 9X? And what about Sun TV?

Yes. Sun TV is definitely an attractive stock. Of late, we have not tracked Zee Entertainment, but the media space is a long-term bet based on the domestic consumption story. And how this space will pan out depends on how is the economic growth is expressed in the country and how the people feel about the money in their pockets. So, it is a long-term play. Only the one who is willing to take a long-term view should buy the media stocks.
