If you have to pick a Reliance Industries, which has really not done too much versus a GAIL, which would be a better bet?

I do not track Reliance for that matter but I would definitely go with GAIL because GAIL is one of the largest player in natural gas space and it is also into transmission, so that is why and natural gas would be the fuel in future, so that is why I would prefer GAIL.
