Bearish on media: Vijai Mantri, Pramerica MF

In a chat with ET Now, Vijai Mantri, MD & CEO, Pramerica MF, shares his views on media.

ET Now: Any themes from the broader markets that are standing out at this point, is there some bit of value that you are seeing in media segment?

Vijai Mantri: The challenge is that the very few companies are making money in media. If you look at top line optics of the media, it look very exciting but we as a fund manager need to look at what kind of cash profit these companies can generate.

The stocks run on the basis of the profit. There are many interesting well established stories in the market which are available. so you could play the theme through that, not necessarily one has to participate in media.

In our opinion next leg of rally is going to be driven by material, cyclical, cement, the companies which is going to play on infrastructure improvement and manufacturing base etc.
