Balrampur Chini can be accumulated at lower levels: Avinash Gorakshekar, Anagram Capital Ltd

Sugar prices are firming up because of the shortage of sugar and more importantly in terms of the positioning.

Avinash Gorakshekar, Head of Research, Anagram Capital Ltd, in a chat with ET Now talks about sugar stocks.

Do you think it is possibly a good time to have some cherry picks in the sugar space?

As a product, to catch Sugar at the right time is very crucial. Typically from a pricing point of view, I would prefer to wait for the Q3 numbers for most of the sugar companies to come out and more importantly sugar companies which have got integrated business models, which are into ethanol molasses.

Pure sugar/cement plays may not be benefited significantly going forward. But an integrated player like a Balrampur Chini or may be a Dhampur Sugar, may be at lower levels one can look at sugar because sugar prices are firming up because of the shortage of sugar and more importantly in terms of the positioning. Over the next 6-8 months, agro as a sector is definitely going to be in flavour. So sugar companies - probably after say another 5-6% correction - could possibly be a good strategy to start accumulating.
