Avoid Bharti Airtel, Idea is a trading bet: Mehraboon Irani

Is it too late to turn bullish on telecom now because if Bharti in last one year is up about 40%?

We need to understand the fact that you will not be able to cash the things at the bottom and a lot of reports being positive on Bharti as a stock just because the stock had come down. The fact of the case is if you were positive a year-and-a-half ago, you also saw the price coming down. The fact is at the present level if you feel that the Indian telecom story, which had got slightly punctured, it is back on its feet. Then you should possibly be looking at them, and I personally favour Idea to Bharti by a decent margin at the present valuations while the news is that Bharti is going to start the 4G operations sometime next year. All said and done, the fact of the case is at the present levels, I am comfortable with Idea even as a trading bet.
