Asian market continues to recover very strongly: Peter Redward
Peter Redward, Head of Emerging Asia Research, Barclays Capital, gives his views on Asian market in a chat with ET Now.
What are you advising clients in terms of what is it that you are bullish about in the region right now?
Our primary and strongest view on the region is to be long Asian equities. We think that for the last four or five months, we had seen Asian equities trade sideways on concerns about valuations.
People have been looking under the carpet for any sign of problems across the region whether it was Chinese property or the impact of the fallout in Dubai on India or the Greek situation, all of these issues have people from the real picture, which is in fact the Asia is continuing to recover very strongly.
Stock momentum is coming through. Policymakers are unlikely to withdraw the stimulus rapidly and liquidity remains very flush and that's a very positive backdrop for equity markets. We think in general investors are not particularly heavily invested in Asian stocks and we do not see a lot of leverage, so it looks to us like Asian equities are going to continue the run that they are on at the moment.
