India's second-largest stock broking firm Zerodha was hit by a technical glitch on Friday morning with traders complaining that the screen froze while placing orders.

"Hi, we're sorry for the inconvenience. The issue was resolved quickly, and the prices are now updating fine now, please check," Zerodha said on social media platform X while responding to user complaints.

In the morning, several Zerodha traders lashed out at the Bengaluru-based broking firm saying that the Kite app froze and as a result they were not able to square off open positions.

In the last few months, traders, in particular those trading options, have been hit by technical glitches reported by discount broking platforms like Groww and Zerodha.

In 2023 alone, Zerodha admitted to at least 8 technical glitches with issues varying from those relating to login on Kite app, display of orders and positions as well as order placements.

With a market share of 17.5%, Zerodha is India's second largest broker while discount broker Groww has become the largest player in terms of active clients.
