Wonderla Holidays debuts on NSE at Rs 160 apiece; 28% higher than its issue price

The company had entered the primary market with an issue of 1.45 crore shares to raise funds to set up an amusement park in Hyderabad.

MUMBAI: Bangalore-based Wonderla Holidays, an operator of amusement parks in India, had a stellar listing on the National Stock Exchange. After listing at 28 per cent premium, the stock surged 34.4 per cent to touch a high of Rs 168 per share.

At 10:50 a.m.; the stock was at Rs 157.50, up 26 per cent, on the NSE. It touched a high of Rs 168 and a low of Rs 152.20 in trade so far. Over 24.46 lakh shares were traded in the counter.

The company had entered the primary market with an issue of 1.45 crore shares to raise funds to set up an amusement park in Hyderabad. It raised nearly Rs 181 crore via the IPO.

The company currently own and operate two amusement parks under the brand name ‘Wonderla’, situated at Kochi and Bangalore. It is in the process of setting up its third amusement park in Hyderabad.

The company also owns and operates a ‘3 star’ leisure resort beside the amusement park in Bangalore under the brand name ‘Wonderla Resort’ which has been operational since March 2012.

Most brokerages had advised investors to ‘Subscribe’ to the IPO.
