Wipro surges close to 5% after Q2 earnings

NEW DELHI: Shares of software giant Wipro surged close to 5% in early Mumbai trading on Thursday after the company recorded a 17% year-on-year jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,930.6 crore for the July-September period.

At 09:50 hours (IST), the company’s scrip traded at Rs 701.65, registering a gain of 4.3% from previous close on the National Stock Exchange.

In an exchange filing on Wednesday, the Bengaluru-based software heavyweight said that consolidated revenue jumped 30 per cent to Rs 19,667 crore in Jul-Sep from Rs 15,114 crore over the corresponding period last year.


The company sees revenue from the IT services business in a band of $2,631 million to $2,683 million in October-December, equivalent to a sequential growth of 2-4 per cent.
