Mutual funds continued to buy into stocks selectively after reviewing the quarterly numbers. Private banks continued to be favoured over their public sector counterparts.

Stocks like IndusInd Bank, HDFC Bank, Kotak Bank and Axis Bank continued to see buying by fund managers in the month of July. Among IT stocks, Infosys and Tech Mahindra found their way after posting a good set of numbers.

Some profit-booking was seen in selective pharma and oil marketing companies which have moved up sharply over the past one year. Mid-caps like Atul, SKS Micro and Page Industries saw some profit-booking while turnaround stories like Wockhardt and Mahindra Holidays saw some accumulation by the funds.
