Welspun Corp promoter group, CEO to sell up to Rs 1,417 crore stake via block deal
Welspun Corp’s promoter group entity and CEO Vipul Mathur plan to sell up to 63 lakh shares worth Rs 1,417.5 crore through a block deal. The transaction represents 2.4% of outstanding shares and comes after a sharp stock price rally.

The sale could be worth up to Rs 1,417.5 crore at the floor price of Rs 2,250 per share. The floor price is at a discount of about 4.1% to Welspun Corp’s last closing price of Rs 2,345.5 on the NSE on August 25, 2026.
Welspun Investments and Commercials Ltd, part of the promoter group, will sell up to 60 lakh shares. Vipul Mathur, managing director and CEO of Welspun Corp, will sell up to 3 lakh shares.
The proposed sale represents about 2.4% of Welspun Corp’s existing outstanding shares. The transaction is fully secondary, which means the company will not receive any proceeds from the sale.
IIFL Capital Services is the sole broker and placement agent for the transaction. The books opened on August 25 and are expected to close on August 26 at 8 am, with an option to close earlier. The trade is expected on August 26, while settlement is expected on August 27.
The sellers will be subject to a 90-day lock-up on their residual stake after the transaction.
The deal terms said no pricing guidance will be given until the shares are crossed on the Indian stock exchanges on August 26. Investors have been asked to indicate demand across the price range.
At the floor price, the transaction is valued at about $149 million, based on a USD-INR rate of 95.4125 cited in the deal terms.
The block deal comes after a sharp run-up in Welspun Corp shares. The stock has been one of the stronger performers in the industrial and pipe manufacturing space, helped by order visibility, energy infrastructure demand and investor interest in capital goods-linked themes.
Promoter or management stake sales are usually watched closely by the market because they can affect near-term sentiment. A discount to the last traded price can put pressure on the stock when trading opens, though the final impact depends on the level of institutional demand and the final execution price.
