Vedanta jumps 4% on natural gas discovery

NEW DELHI: Shares of Vedanta climbed 4 per cent on Friday as the company announced discovery of natural gas in a Krishna Godavari basin block in the Bay of Bengal.

In a regulatory filing, mining baron Anil Agarwal's company, which had merged oil explorer Cairn India with itself, said it has notified the oil ministry about the discovery.

The stock rose 4.3 per cent to hit a high of Rs 233.40 on the BSE in the beginning.


The discovery in well A3-2 is within the company’s operated block KG-OSN-2009/3 of KG Basin on the east coast of India.
