MUMBAI: Sebi on Tuesday faced the wrath of Twitterati as scores of users took potshots on various proposals to clampdown on investment tips through social media put forth recently.

The `trolls' were mostly directed at the Securities and Exchange Board of India's or Sebi's recently released `Investment Advisor Consultation Paper', which proposed a ban on “providing investment tips“ on social networking media such as Twitter, WhatsApp and Facebook, among a few other lesser-contentious proposals.
