Triveni Engineering shares adjust 38.5% as stock turns ex-demerger. What lies ahead for 95,000 shareholders
Triveni Engineering shares appeared to fall sharply after trading ex-demerger, but the decline reflected a technical price adjustment following the separation of its power transmission business rather than selling pressure.

Triveni Engineering shares now trade excluding the value of Triveni Power Transmission. Its market capitalisation now stands at Rs 5,982 crore after the adjustment.
The special pre-open session (SPOS) ran from 9:15 am to 9:45 am on the stock exchanges to determine Triveni Engineering’s share price adjustment post-demerger, and regular trading in the stock began from 10 am.
The producer of sugar and ethanol set July 22 as the record date for its demerger. As part of the restructuring, every eligible shareholder gets one share of Triveni Power Transmission for every three shares held in Triveni Engineering as on the record date.
Shares of Triveni Power Transmission (TPTL) are expected to be listed independently on the NSE and BSE. The company has more than 14,000 installations across over 80 countries and over 50 GW of installed gear capacity. This comes after the company’s amalgamation with Sir Shadi Lal Enterprises earlier this year.
Notably, investors taking fresh positions in Triveni Engineering today will not automatically get Triveni Power Transmission shares. Under SEBI's T+1 settlement cycle, investors must purchase a company's shares at least one trading day before the record date to ensure the shares are credited to their demat accounts in time, and they become eligible for the corporate action. Accordingly, yesterday was the last opportunity for investors to buy Triveni Engineering shares so they would be credited to their accounts by Wednesday, making them eligible to receive shares of Triveni Power Transmission.
