NEW DELHI: Shares of Vedanta traded 0.23 per cent down in Thursday's trade at 10:20AM (IST). Around 271,184 shares changed hands on the counter.

The counter opened at Rs 88.55 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 90.05 and Rs 88.25, respectively, in the session so far. The stock of Vedanta Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 179.95 and a 52-week low of Rs 60.3.

Anil Agarwal-controlled Vedanta Resources is raising up to $2.5 billion in short-term loans from global banks such as JP Morgan and Barclays to finance the buyout of Vedanta’s public ownership ahead of the stock’s proposed delisting on Indian exchanges.

The company reported consolidated net sales of Rs 21126.0 crore for the quarter ended 31-Dec-2019, down 2.82 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 21739.0 crore and down 10.74 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 23669.0 crore.

The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 2348.0 crore, up 49.17 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.

Shareholding pattern
As of 31-Mar-2020, domestic institutional investors held 10.91 per cent stake in the firm, while foreign institutional investors held 15.18 per cent and the promoters 0.0 per cent.

According to BSE data, the stock traded at a P/E multiple of 3.88 and a price-to-book ratio of 0.42. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
