Trending stocks: TCS shares flat in early trade

NEW DELHI: Shares of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. traded 0.27 per cent down in Tuesday's trade at 10:32AM (IST). Around 91,553 shares changed hands on the counter.

The scrip opened at Rs 2269.0 and touched an intraday high and low of Rs 2301.85 and Rs 2252.35, respectively, in the session so far. The stock of Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. quoted a 52-week high of Rs 2301.85 and a 52-week low of Rs 1504.4.

Total market cap of the Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. stood at Rs 851097.14 crore at the time of writing this report.


JP Morgan Funds on Monday bought TCS shares worth nearly Rs 247 crore through open market transaction. The block deal data on BSE showed that JP Morgan Funds bought over 11.23 lakh shares of TCS at an average price of Rs 2,199 apiece, and the total deal value stood at Rs 246.98 crore.


Key Financials
The company reported consolidated net sales of Rs 39946.0 crore for the quarter ended 31-Mar-2020, up 0.23 per cent from previous quarter's Rs 39854.0 crore and up 5.09 per cent from the year-ago quarter's Rs 38010.0 crore.

The net profit for latest quarter stood at Rs 8049.0 crore, down 0.95 per cent from the same quarter a year ago.

Shareholding pattern
As of 31-Mar-2020, domestic institutional investors held 2.55 per cent stake in the company, while foreign institutional investors held 15.74 per cent and the promoters 72.05 per cent.


Valuation ratio
According to BSE data, the stock traded at a price-to-earnings multiple of 26.32 and a price-to-book ratio of 10.04. A higher P/E ratio shows investors are willing to pay a higher price because of better future growth expectations. Price-to-book value indicates the inherent value of a company and is the measure of the price that investors are ready to pay even for no growth in the business.
