NEW DELHI: Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty and Sensex ended Friday's session on a flat note.

Larsen & Toubro, Bharti Airtel, Tech Mahindra, Vedanta, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HDFC Bank, Wipro and UltraTech Cement were the top gainers in the Nifty index.

On the contrary, Mahindra & Mahindra, Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries, Bank of Baroda and Bajaj Auto settled at the bottom in the index.

At the sectoral front, Nifty Realty emerged as the biggest loser on NSE, followed by Nifty Pharma and Nifty PSU Bank index, each slipping over 1 per cent.

Nifty Realty settled at 285, down 1.47 per cent, with shares of Oberoi Realty, Unitech and Housing Development and Infrastructure (HDIL) cracking over 3 per cent.

Nifty FMCG index stood as the top sectoral gainer, with shares of Marico, Emami, Colgate Palmolive (India), Britannia Industries and Tata Global Beverages as the top gainers.

Overall 106 stocks, including Bajaj Finserv, Birla Corporation, Blue Star, Bombay Dyeing, Britannia Industries, Eicher Motors, Hindalco Industries, Indiabulls Housing Finance, JSW Steel and Maruti hit fresh 52-week highs on NSE.

Benchmark Nifty50 index closed 5 points up at 9,935, while the 30-share Sensex was 25 points up at 31,688 at the end of today's session.

In the Nifty50 pack, 17 stocks settled in green, while 34 in red.
