NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex picked up momentum in mid-morning trade on Tuesday after a sharp correction in previous session. However, better than expected inflation data also failed to lift markets.

The much awaited WPI inflation data slowed for a third straight month in April to 4.89 percent, which is also the lowest level seen since November 2009.

Inflation at current levels is comfortable for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to persist with monetary easing to revive growth in Asia’s third largest economy, say analysts.

At 12:10 p.m., the 30-share index was at 19,801.78, up 110 points or 0.57 per cent. It touched a high of 19,831.79 and a low of 19,652.69 in trade today.

The Nifty was at 6,017.35, up 37.90 points or 0.63 per cent. It touched a high of 6,026.20 and a low of 5,970.05 in trade today.
