The ongoing rally in the stock lifted the company’s market capitalisation to Rs 1,000 crore this week for the first time ever. Shares of the sugar producer have advanced 26.93 per cent to Rs 604.95 as of August 3 from Rs 476.60 on July 27.
The stock had hit a 52-week low of Rs 207 on November 9, 2016.
Dolly Khanna held 1.49 per cent stake in the company as of June 2017 against 1.46 per cent as of March 2017. Investor Anil Kumar Goel also increased his stake in the company from 1.94 per cent to 4.21 per cent in last two quarters.
Rating agency ICRA recently upgraded the long-term rating of Dwarikesh Sugar’s Rs 599.99 crore line of credit to [ICRA]A+ from [ICRA]A-. The outlook on the long-term rating is stable.
Sugar stocks have gained traction since July after the government increased import duty to 50 per cent from 40 per cent earlier to restrict cheaper inward shipments and to protect domestic prices.
