Tata Sons pick up 14.68 pc stake in Praj Industry for Rs 338.24 cr

Tata group holding company Tata Sons today picked up 14.68 per cent stake in Praj Industries, a knowledge based firm engaged in bio-processing and engineering, from promoters for Rs 338.24 crore in open market deals.

MUMBAI: Tata group holding company Tata Sons today picked up 14.68 per cent stake in Praj Industries, a knowledge based firm engaged in bio-processing and engineering, from promoters for Rs 338.24 crore in open market deals.

Tata Sons bought 1.34 crore equity shares in Praj at Rs 252 apiece in a bulk deal on Bombay Stock Exchange.

Praj Industries promoters, Pramod Chaudhari and Parimal Chaudhari, sold 55.06 lakh and 51.25 lakh equity shares.

As on June 30, promoters had 28.24 per cent stake in the company.

Among other major shareholders, entrepreneur Vinod Khosla owns 8.88 per cent stake, while leading stock market investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala holds 6 per cent in Praj Industries.

Shares of Praj Industries today fell over 4 per cent to close at Rs 238.05 on the BSE.
