Tata Motors rallies over 1% despite weak October sales number

NEW DELHI: Tata Motors Ltd rallied over 1 per cent in muhurat trading session on Sunday, even though the global auto major reported 28 per cent decline in total vehicle sales at 51,638 units in October, 2013.

The company had sold 71,771 units in the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.

At 06:20 p.m.; Tata Motors pared some of the gains and was trading 0.8 per cent higher at Rs 387.50. It has hit a low of Rs 385.50 and a high of Rs 388.65 in trade today.

Total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 14,133 units in October, down 33 per cent from 21,119 units in the same month last year.

The company's exports grew by 29.95 per cent to 4,712 units last month from 3,626 units in the same month last year, it added.
