Suzlon Energy up 5% as REpower bags 2 billion euro order

Shares of Suzlon Energy were in the limelight on Thursday after its subsidiary REpower Systems AG bagged an order worth nearly 2 billion euro from RWE Innogy GmbH for supplying 250 offshore wind turbines.

MUMBAI: Shares of Suzlon Energy were in the limelight on Thursday after its subsidiary REpower Systems AG bagged an order worth nearly 2 billion euro from RWE Innogy GmbH for supplying 250 offshore wind turbines.

REpower Systems AG and RWE Innogy signed a framework agreement on the supply of 250 offshore wind energy units, with a potential volume of approximately 2 billion euro, the company said in a statement.

The first 30 offshore wind energy units of the REpower 5M model are scheduled to be delivered in 2011, and the delivery volume will continue to rise through the years 2012 to 2015.

With an installed capacity of around 1,000 MW, the wind farm will statistically be able to supply electricity to around 7,80,000 households.

At 10 am, the stock rose 4.8 per cent to Rs 43.70 on the NSE making it the biggest index gainer.
