NEW DELHI: Shares of Suzlon Energy surged 2 per cent in Tuesday’s trade after Hong Kong-based CLP Group entered the Indian solar energy market by acquiring a 49% stake in Suzlon Energy's 100 mw project in Telangana.

The CLP Group is one of the largest investor-owned power businesses in Asia Pacific.

Reacting to the development, the scrip gained 2.05 per cent to hit a high of Rs 17.80 on the BSE. The stock has slipped 19 per cent in the year so far.
