Sun Pharma climbs over 3% after USFDA drug nod
NEW DELHI: Sun Pharma climbed over 3 per cent on Thursday after the drug maker received USFDA approval for plaque psoriasis drug tildrakizumab.

The stock rose 3.40 per cent to hit a high of Rs 521.90 on the BSE today. The company informed stock exchanges about the USFDA nod after market hours of Wednesday.

The drug, which will be sold under brand name Ilumya, is expected to treat adults with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis, an auto immune disease. Illumya was a molecule that Sun Pharma acquired from US drugmaker Merck in its early stage of development to strengthen its potential in the specialty drug business.

“With the approval of Ilumya and our long-standing commitment in dermatology, we are focused on making a difference for people living with moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis,” said Abhay Gandhi, CEO, North America, Sun Pharma, told exchanges.

“We are committed to working with all relevant stakeholders to make Ilumya available to appropriate people with plaque psoriasis.”
