Sugar stocks surge as minister talks of decontrolling sector

Shares of sugar companies got a shot in the arm after agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said it’s the right time to decontrol the sugar sector.

MUMBAI: Shares of sugar companies got a shot in the arm after agriculture minister Sharad Pawar said it’s the right time to decontrol the sugar sector.

As of now, the government has banned exports and futures trading in sugar.

At 11:55 am, Oudh Sugar surged 9.59 per cent, Dwarikesh Sugar advanced 9.50 per cent, Rajshree Sugars moved 8.02 per cent, Simbhaoli Sugars climbed 7.27 per cent higher.

Dhampur Sugar was up 6.41 per cent, Bajaj Hindustan moved 4.58 per cent higher, Balrampur Chini gained 4.10 per cent and Shree Renuka edged 3.99 per cent higher.
