NEW DELHI: Pharma company Strides Shasun went up over 2 per cent on Wednesday as its wholly owned subsidiary Strides Pharma Global received USFDA approval for an HIV drug.

At 09.55 am, the stock traded at Rs 691 on the BSE, up over 2 per cent.

Efavirenz tablet USP, 600 mg, is a generic version of Sustiva Tablets of Bristol-Myers Squibb and is indicated for treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) infected adults and adolescents.


The company has 74 cumulative ANDA filings with the USFDA, of which 44 ANDAs have been approved as of date and 30 are pending approval, the pharma company said in a BSE filing.

The US market for the drug is approximately $115 Million and Strides is only the second generic company to get the approval for the product under the Para IV route. The product will be manufactured at the company’s oral dosage facility in Bengaluru and will be marketed by Strides Pharma. Strides is launching the product immediately.
