Stocks to watch: Infosys Technologies, Glenmark Pharma, NTPC, HCC, Rolta India

Infosys Technologies, India's No. 2 software services exporter, reported a 0.9 percent drop in quarterly profit, slightly more than the market estimates, as a firmer rupee countered the impact of rising demand for outsourcing.

The company, which kicked off results for the country's $60 billion IT services sector, said January-March net profit fell to 16.00 billion rupees ($361 million) from 16.15 billion a year ago.

Glenmark Pharmaceuticals has announced that its unit entered into an out-of-court settlement with GlaxmoSmithKline over patent actions on doses of atovaquone and proguanil hydrochloride, the generic version of GSK’s Malarone malaria treatment tablets.

NTPC may soon get to allocate up to 50% of the output from its new plants to the home state, allowing it to compete with private developers. Private sector power project developers have snatched away a number projects from the largest power producer by offering a higher share of output to the state where the project is located.

Hindustan Construction Company as bagged contract by Director General of Naval Projects to develop a Dry Dock and associated North and South Wharves at Naval Dockyard in Mumbai. The total cost of the project is Rs 608.39 crore and will be completed in 48 months.

Information technology company Rolta on Monday said it has acquired US-based IT consulting firm OneGIS for an undisclosed amount. "In addition to gaining a consulting track-record, Rolta has acquired the company's intellectual property," the Indian firm said in a statement to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
