NEW DELHI: Equity benchmark NSE Nifty was trading 15.25 points down at 8,785.80 in the afternoon trade on Tuesday on account of selling in frontline bluechip counters amid weak global cues.

Shares of Karma Energy, Pan India Corp, Goldstone Infra, Metkore Alloys, Sanco Industries, Crest Ventures, Corp Bank, Godawari Power, Oudh Sugar Mill and MTNL hit their fresh 52-week high on NSE.

On the other hand, BS Ltd, JMT Auto, BSE Ltd., LT Foods, DB International, Birla Cotsyn, Rasoya Proteins, Shekhawati Poly, FCS Software touched their fresh 52-week low.

Overall, 18 shares in the NSE Nifty index were trading in green, while 33 were trading in red.

In the Nifty 50 index, BHEL, BPCL, Bank of Baroda, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Bharti Infratel were among top gainers, while Tata Motors, Ambuja Cements, UltraTech Cements, ACC and Bajaj Auto, were among major losers in the index.

The BSE Sensex was down 52.94 points at 28386.34 around 1 pm (IST). Traders were seen piling up position in Retail, Electronics, Gems and Jewellery, Infrastructure, Tobacco, Shipping, Electric Equipment, Petrochemicals, Petroleum, Power sectors, while selling were visible in rubber, engineering, textiles and auto-related stocks.
