Stock market update: Whirlpool, Voltas keep BSE Consumer Durables index up

NEW DELHI: The BSE Consumer Durables index was trading 0.48 per cent up at 20,330 around 01:05 pm on Tuesday, with Whirlpool of India (up 5.70 per cent) as the top gainer.

VIP Industries (up 4.23 per cent) was up next in the band of the gainers in the index.

Symphony (up 1.66 per cent), Blue Star (up 1.41 per cent), Voltas (up 1.06 per cent) and TTK Prestige (up 0.23 per cent) too found themselves among the gainers.


However, Crompton Greaves Consumer Electricals (down 2.05 per cent), PC Jeweller (down 1.71 per cent) and Rajesh Exports (down 0.84 per cent) were the losers in the index.

Equity benchmarks were in the green, but pared gains owing to selling in heavyweights, including Reliance Industries, Kotak Mahindra Bank and Tata Consultancy Services.

The BSE Sensex was up 21 points at 36,740, while the NSE Nifty50 index was up 17 points at 11,101.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 28 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

In the Sensex index, 20 stocks were up, but 11 stocks were down.

Vedanta, Larsen & Toubro and Asian Paints were leading the pack of Sensex gainers.
