Stock market update: Sugar stocks surge; Mawana Sugars zooms 9%

NEW DELHI: Most of the sugar stocks were trading with gains in Monday's morning session.

Shares of Mawana Sugars (up 9.23 per cent), Vishwaraj Sugar Industries (up 8.89 per cent), Dharani Sugars & Chemicals (up 8.55 per cent), Ugar Sugar Works (up 5.34 per cent) and Rana Sugars (up 5.00 per cent) were the top gainers.

Indian Sucrose (up 4.96 per cent), KM Sugar Mills (up 4.32 per cent), KCP Sugar & Industries (up 4.26 per cent) and Uttam Sugar Mills (up 3.70 per cent) too were in the green.


While Rajshree Sugars & Chemicals (down 7.26 per cent), Sakthi Sugars (down 3.53 per cent) and EID Parry (down 1.00 per cent) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 1.10 points down at 12,112.35, while the 30share BSE Sensex was up 15.50 points at 41,273.24 at around 09:57 am.

Titan Company (up 1.92 per cent), Nestle India (up 1.46 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 1.08 per cent), Tata Consultancy (up 1.0 per cent) and Tata Steel (up 0.77 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (down 2.76 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 2.37 per cent), State Bank of India (down 1.2 per cent), HDFC (down 1.14 per cent) and Mahindra & Mahindra (down 1.03 per cent) were trading in the red.
