Stock market update: Sugar stocks edge higher; Dharani Sugars jumps over 4%

NEW DELHI: Shares of sugar producers were trading higher in Thrusday's morning trade.

Shares of Dharani Sugars & Chemicals (up 4.20 per cent), DCM Shriram Industries (up 3.73 per cent), Magadh Sugar (up 2.96 per cent) and Mawana Sugars (up 2.95 per cent) gained up to 4 per cent.

Avadh Sugar (up 1.71 per cent), Dalmia Bharat Sugar & Industries (up 1.03 per cent) and EID Parry (up 0.87 per cent) too were among the top gainers.


While Indian Sucrose (down 4.76 per cent), Triveni Engineering & Industries (down 1.26 per cent) and KCP Sugar & Industries (down 0.72 per cent) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 26.55 points down at 11,286.75, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 74.93 points at 38,103.02 at around 10:09 am.

Grasim Industries (up 4.49 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 3.96 per cent), Reliance Industries (up 2.81 per cent), Infosys (up 1.13 per cent) and Tech Mahindra (up 0.98 per cent) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Indiabulls Housing Finance (down 11.76 per cent), YES Bank (down 3.82 per cent), Tata Motors (down 2.81 per cent), State Bank of India (down 2.20 per cent) and GAIL (India) (down 2.16 per cent) were trading in the red.
